All-black, all-purpose, all over Europe. The default crow.
- Population
- 54–91.7 million mature individuals globally, stable trend over three generations (BirdLife DataZone / IUCN); ~16.2–27.5 million mature individuals in the European portion of the range (~30% of global range)
- Habitat
- Highly adaptable — farmland, woodland, moorland, sea cliffs, coastal areas, marshland and lightly cultivated land with scattered trees, and increasingly cities/suburbs and other human settlements

- Diet
- Omnivorous and opportunistic: carrion, insects, earthworms, small mammals, amphibians, fish, eggs and young birds, grain, fruit, seeds, nuts, and human food scraps; caches food extensively (remembering hundreds to thousands of locations) and some populations hunt cooperatively (e.g., harassing raptors/foxes for kills, mobbing ducklings)
- Size
- 0.5 m
- Wingspan
- 0.92 m
- Lifespan
- 10 years
